Frequently Asked Questions:
Do you accept insurance?
We are “out of network” with all commerical insurances & do not contract at all with Medicare or Medicaid. Doing so, allows us to spend more one-on-one time in our sessions and provide the highest quality of care to our patients. We collect payment at the time of service in the form of credit card, FSA or HSA. We absolutely work with each patient to develop a plan that works for their schedule, lifestyle, and budget. Upon request, we can provide a superbill which is itemized for commercial insurance companies (not medicare or medicaid) with all the necessary information to submit for potential reimbursement. If you are interested in knowing your level of “out of network” reimbursement, please call your insurance provider and ask about their coverage for “out of network physical therapy.” We often find that using this model, our patients not only get better care but end up paying LESS than they would have using their insurance at an in-network physical therapy clinic having to still meet their deductible.
Medicare Beneficiaries: we are not Participating Medicare Providers, we can only accept Medicare beneficiaries as wellness clients; which means medicare will not be billed for services and superbills will not be provided. If you do want to use your Medicare benefits for physical therapy, we cannot provide you with treatment at our clinic but we can help you find a Medicare provider in your area.
Do I need a referral?
In the state of Massachusetts, a referral from a physician is NOT required to attend physical therapy. If your therapist feels that additional medical examination or treatment is indicated, we may encourage you to see a physician or can refer you to a physician if something is out of our scope of practice.
How often are appointments?
Appointment frequency is individualized for each client. We begin with a comprehensive evaluation or virtual consultation to gather all the information we need and ensure we can individualize your plan of care. From there, we can help determine the best frequency for you. With our SMART approach and utilization of our Concierge Coaching, we often are able to see clients far less often in person, as we are able to communicate with you in-between sessions to allow for improved adherence, compliance and the ability to alter or progress things as needed in REAL TIME; saving you time, frustration and money.
Should I still attend my pelvic floor evaluation or treatment session if I am on my period?
We can absolutely still evaluate and treat you while you are on your period. This is something that doesn’t interfere at all. If you prefer, your session may also focus solely on external treatment techniques and strengthening. Treatment while on your period is a decision left solely up to you as the patient.
Is an internal pelvic floor muscle assessment mandatory as part of my pelvic floor physical therapy?
No. Nothing is ever required. Internal pelvic floor muscle assessments do give us valuable information about the health of your pelvic floor, but it is just one tool/technique for us to gather information, definitely not the only method.
If you do not wish to partake in an internal pelvic floor muscle assessment, we support that decision completely.
We do provide internal pelvic floor assessment to our pregnancy wellness patients (with the exception of the first trimester), so if you feel this something you are interested in but would like clearance from your OB/midwife first, feel free to contact them prior to your appointment.
